London Fashion Week – Eun Jeong S/S ‘11

A big thanks to Kristabel who invited me to join her at this presentation yesterday at Russell Chambers in Covent Garden

This season features Eun Jeong’s first foray into digital print so I was expecting to see some really funky colourful stuff
I hadn’t heard much about her before so before I went I had a browse through her previous (A/W) collection and loved what she did with the paintwork on the models’ legs/ankles and the use of coral in a few of her pieces – one of my favourite colours.

So anyway
That made me a bit more interested to see this presentation

Apparently she had once designed the uniforms for staff at a Hyundai department store in Korea. I wonder how that turned out.. am under the assumption that it didn’t have much room for creativity, hmm

The presentation room (small) was loosely divided into sections
The first parts had models standing or sitting on chairs amongst props like dressing tables and drawer chests
Each model wore a piece from the collection and every now and then would change into a different one

I liked being able to see everything so up-close
I think, if you want, you would even touch the clothes.. haha

In the back section the rest of the collection is displayed on mannequins

Who could miss the shoes
Strips of colourful cloth hanging off the ankle straps
As if a sign of celebration 🙂

I’m not keen on all that glitter.. but there’s something that draws me to it
I guess it reminds me of kaleidoscopes. And how fun those things are!

The digital prints she used resemble a paint-splattering activity I did when I was at kindergarten, hehe
The model here wears my favourite piece from the collection
As for the leggings, they look like something my buddy Joyce would rock

Close up of the print on the dress
I really love this
Clearly no limit to what colours are used.. it’s just so free and HAPPY

Honesty as always, these are a two of a few designs I really did not like
What is that thing on the shoulder of the white dress? It’s like an asymmetrical cropped top but folded up to reveal your boobs??
And the dress on the left just has too many things going on.. not in a good way

Something

As much as love clothes, shopping, and dressing up, I think I realise through my lack of enthusiasm for Fashion Week (I still enjoy it, but not as much as most people who are involved are) that at this point in my life I’m not so interested in watching catwalk shows all day/having a full-on day of fashion-ness. At this stage I don’t feel I ‘deserve’ to be there, especially if I’m not passionate enough to run back home and edit photos/write a proper review immediately. Of course there are some shows I really want to see, such as Topshop, Sass & Bide, HoH,.. the list goes on. But for the reasons above I didn’t bother applying for tickets, save for 3-4 shows. I just want a small piece of LFW, you know? Just a slice. Not the whole crazy experience (omg those queues..). There are bigger and more important/passionate people for that who thrive on such things..

Great pictures. I LOVE Irregular Choice shoes! I have to say I have an lack of enthusiasm for fashion week too. I’d rather be working out my outfit or shopping than watching people strutting it on the catwalk.

I totally understand with what you’re saying. I like to go to a few shows but would prefer not to have a full schedule. Was really nice seeing you yesterday, hope we get to meet and chat for longer some point soon!
