Bali – Catching the Sunset.. Nearly

Our Bali trip was booked to start on February 15th as I knew Joyce would be celebrating this year πŸ™‚

The flight from KL to Bali took about 3 hours (feels like 10)
We arrived sometime in the late afternoon and took a cab to Kuta city – cabs are freaking cheap there, our 20-25 min ride cost umm Β£10? – where we had a room booked at a small hotel. Joyce said since it was my first time we should try staying in the main area even though it was very touristy, and hire a driver to take us around the island to see other things..

Got dropped off at the wrong street.
The streets, or rather LANES, are really narrow and bendy and messy in Kuta. They’re lined with heaps of little shops and restaurants and people.. it’s an amazing feat for a car to even squeeze in there. We found our way to the hotel thanks to two local boys who zipped us and our luggage there on motorcycles!

I sweat like a pig.. I bet I was really slippery to touch that day. If anyone had touched me.

After having a meal of nasi padang (yum), we attempted to catch the sunset at the SOS Rooftop Bar in Seminyak (another town in Bali that’s got a loooong road with lots of shopping outlets).

Yes
There are BEDS at this place
So you can lay down, spread out, get comfy, roll around
..while watching the sun slowly descend into the glistening sea

I had a lychee cocktail
Because this was a rooftop bar located on a 5-star hotel, the cocktails were relatively expensive – compared to what you’d pay at other bars or restaurants

But really it was only 60,000 Rupiah, ie about Β£4.50

I wasn’t very lucky..
Not long after I took this photo, thick clouds came and covered up the sun..
They ate it.

Speaking of luck, during the walk to the bar, a bird had decided to do a big shit on my arm.
Joyce took a photo (while laughing at me) but I refuse to post it here!
