A couple of months ago I decided to make use of the white table top in my living room and start to get all arty with some of my photos. This is because I saw some other cool people doing it and I wanted to be cool, too. Hey at least I’m admitting it. So here’s a little curated selection of some of these snaps off my Instagram account; and I can introduce you to some of my new toys: 🙂

Happy sushi

^I’ve been eating a lot of sushi for breakfast/lunch lately..

Hey Arnold!

^OMG I LOVE Hey Arnold! Please tell me you know him! Top right is a pair of monkey socks given to me over Christmas by a friend in Porto. They’re awesome. Bottom pic is my bed where many-a-night I’m spending way too much time reading Men’s Health or Quora.

Felt toys

^Left: A cow finger puppet and my pink felt pig in Paris (Montmartre to be exact)

Right: My felt elephant on a beach near Porto^

 Happy food

^Left: Gifts from a friend consisting of some of my favourite things – Vegemite included OF COURSE! Oh and peanut butter pouches.. so good.

Right: One of my breakfasts. Chirashi sushi, baby biscuits, fruit, and chocolate!^

Below: My super bling iPhone case! You can get it for $50 from Casemate.

Casemate, Wolf & Moon

^Some fab accessories I got from Wolf & Moon in December. One of my favourite jewellery labels!

Hobby horse

^Left: Disco ball and my little horse – an old birthday gift from 2013

Right: A card I made using pieces of felt and a glue gun. For a friend whose name began with the letter G^

Porto winter sunbathing

^This was me in Porto in DECEMBER! Can you believe it. My pom-pom headpiece is by Rosa Bloom.

Marc Jacobs sunnies

^Food ‘lunch belts’ that I got from Colette Paris – I love that store so much! And my new Marc Jacobs sunglasses, c/o SmartBuyGlasses.

I was hoping to receive them in time before I went off to Portugal and Spain last month but that didn’t happen. So here are some pics of me wearing them as I enjoyed some sunshine.. at home.. in my bikini! This is something I do quite often during the winter actually – whenever the sun’s out. If you can’t do it outside, why not in, right?

My face & purple hair

^That’s a sunspot on my hair! Hair cut & colour by Pimps & Pinups.

More ME

^HAhahaha ok basically I was so high on sunshine and self-love that I thought it would be a fantastic idea to keep taking pictures of myself wearing my cool new sunglasses. Cos I thought I looked pretty damn good in them (and I don’t care if you think not :p).

They fit great! This particular design also comes in BLUE (I know, the blue is SO ME isn’t it!). But seeing as I’ve given away my RayBans to my sister/mom I might get a replacement for those instead.

Ok, that’s enough of me for now.

And please, if you haven’t already, follow me on Instagram (and say hello)!

It’s no secret that I love hanging out in onesies. You may remember that I wore my lion onesie to a lavender farm, and wore my fox onesie in Iceland. I also have a Santa one, which I used at last year’s annual London Santacon. And these are just the occasions that I’ve actually written about..However, when wandering around Shoreditch Boxpark (a pop up mall in East London) last year, I noticed Norwegian label OnePiece had set up stall there. They make high-quality, lush onesies which are meant to be the ideal loungewear for cooler climates.. without making you feel conscious about things like having ears on your head or a tail on your bum (not that I do, but not everyone is as shameless as I am).

I was recently the proud owner of a Pink Lusekofte Onesie.. and this is not even a lie – I wore it as soon as I got home that day. And the next day too. I kind of decided to skip work and laze around in my suit (not because of the suit, but it helped!).

If you’re looking to treat yourself or a loved one this Christmas, you can use the code ‘31SMALLCRAZY2’
for 20% off  all OnePiece onesies in the online store
Valid worldwide and until.. Christmas Day 2013.

And.. here’s me wearing mine!

me packaging

The suit arrived in a nice matte plastic bag with ‘the story’ at the back, which I won’t bore you with but it pretty much just tells you that the idea spawned from thoughts of creating the most perfect thing to lounge around in. By men, of course.. because women would take into consideration the fact that it’s actually rather a pain to go to the toilet in these things. Haha!

My solution is – don’t drink too much fluids and make sure to use the loo right before you put it on.

label

The material is thick and is lined with fleece on the inside.

hood

The zipper is able to be closed completely up to the top of the hood..

do not zip

And the tag, which demonstrates the brand’s sense of humour, gives you some fair warnings.

For example, it tells me not go to surfing wearing my jumpsuit because it will get wet and I can’t put it on after surfing.

It also makes a few points about not having the ‘zipper fully closed’, and to watch your crotch area when zipping up.

looking at window

Initially I picked a size XS. But it turned out too long. I suppose people in Norway are very tall and they can’t fathom such a short person as I. In the pic above I’m wearing ‘XXS’, and look how long the legs go! But it’s really very snuggly and comfy. I do love it.

hey arnold

Did you use to watch ‘Hey Arnold!’? It was my favourite show in Nickelodeon, after Spongebob of course.

me as an idiot front

The traditional prints are my favourite, but you can get it in normal solid colours and even denim-look designs.

full zip

To end on a funny note, here’s a pic of me with the ‘zipper fully closed’.

I promise I’ll one day walk out in public like this.

This is probably one of the ‘freshest’ posts I’m publishing – i.e. about something that occurred very recently. In fact, only days ago! *pats self on the back*Here’s something I wore over the weekend. I was somewhat missing Portuguese food (post-holiday blues) and so went to look for some in South London (Stockwell/Vauxhall).

I’ve had pretty much THE best summer I’ve ever experienced in London and I’m sad that I haven’t documented any of it on my blog.. but I guess it was because I was too preoccupied with having fun and living in the moment (what I do best!).  I spent SO much time in the sunshine that I sported the very rare and very surprising ‘London tan’.

It was only last week when I returned from Portugal that suddenly.. it was.. not summer anymore. It was cold! I couldn’t go out in my bikini anymore, when I practically lived in them the last three months.

I remember saying to Aysha last Saturday as we traipsed around Portobello Market, “what the hell? I just bought two jumpers. what is happening?”

One of said jumpers is the one I’m wearing in this post:

first autumn outfit
in the shade  in the shade 2
jumping outfit
Jumper – Vintage
Dress – Topshop
Shoes – Converse (vintage upcycled – they’re studded; unfortunately not visible in these pics)
mypinkhair

orange topshop dressIf you saw me wearing this dress in real life, you would need to wear your sunnies. It’s SUPER BRIGHT (perfect).

Now that it’s inevitably autumn, it’s time to think about jackets and coats! I browsed Littlewoods to see what they had available and picked four of my favourites:

1 – South Leather Biker Jacket
2 – Bellfield Rannoch Acid Wash Parka
3 – French Connection Glorious Wool Coat
4 – South Waxed Swing Jacket

Quite essential items really – a leather jacket, wool coat, parka.. You need them all to survive! These were all selected from the Littlewoods range of winter coats.

And then everything else is a bonus – hello sequin jackets, patterned neon crazy cardigans, vintage jacket with a giant unicorn head stitched on.. etc…

The great thing about Littlewoods is that you have the option of paying for your clothes in monthly instalments. Not unlike buying a car or a house. Hmm.. I can’t decide if that’s a good or bad thing.. but I guess having the OPTION is pretty handy..

How freaking quickly has the new year gone by? Since Christmas, I’ve celebrated NYE with a bunch of strangers in East London, gone ice-skating at Hampton Court, spent four amazing days in Venice, got my iPhone 5 stolen in Notting Hill, had a few drunk nights, kidnapped a pedestrian road sign, worn a super-ugly mask all around Soho (will blog this soon), hosted and said goodbye to a close friend from Melbourne, and finally, played for three days in the snow. I say it’s been a GREAT year so far!In the midst of all this activity, I haven’t… shopped.. for a whole month. Ok ALMOST a whole month. I’ve been so busy having fun with my friends, booking holidays, doing silly things etc and I kinda forgot about my favourite most frivolous, materialistic hobby. So I  must say a big THANK YOU to Vouchercodes for reminding me by invitation to take part in their January Sales Secrets challenge, which comes with a budget of £80 to splurge on the sales currently happening online. My job is to scour the web to take advantage of the January sales, and share some tips with you. Hehe. After spending an hour trawling through my favourite UK online shopping sites – these include GiGiVintage, Yayer, Rokit Vintage, Batoko, Topshop (OF COURSE), and other high street names – I decided that the best discounts for things that suited my style came from none other than.. River Island! I don’t normally shop there but I remember always finding their sales of fantastic value-for-money. I also bought a couple of things from ASOS as I had been holding on to a 30% off code that I earned using YourVine way back in November.

I figured that sticking to one or two websites would be ideal so as to not spend money paying for shipping multiple times. In the event, I only spent £3.95 for shipping at River Island as I’m an ASOS Premier member.

I haven’t received my items yet but here’s what I got (sorry for the rubbish collage – it IS 2.30am now):

whatibought.png
This will be perfect for my upcoming trip to Porto, when it’ll be about 16-18 degrees ‘warm’.. Yes! Can’t wait!
2. ASOS Leopard Ears Parka – Was £75, Now £40.50
It’s a jacket that has cat/leopard ears.. I just couldn’t resist. I have so much colour in my wardrobe, so I permitted myself this one black item. Just one.
3. River Island Animal Print Shirt via ASOS – Was £25, Now £7.50

I mean, it’s £7.50..(and it’s kind of awesome too)

4. River Island Ecru Hunting Print Rucksack – Was £32, Now £8
I’ve been wanting to get a rucksack for AGES and now I’ve found one for freaking eight quid.. super awesome. I found this in the men’s section of the store. During the sales I always check out the men’s or even children’s sections.. you never know what goodies you might find there! It may be also because I like wearing men’s jumpers/hoodies/beanies and I fit into girls’ jackets and coats..

5. River Island Bright Pink Lace Fingerless Gloves – Was £6, Now £1
This might as well be the pound shop, right? Haha. Got this for two reasons – the first being that I enjoy collecting things that I can potentially use for fancy dress, and the second being that I thought I might wear it when I participate in The Color Run soon.

6. River Island Lime Lace T-Shirt – Was £16, Now £5
It’s bright and it’s neon.. need I say more?

7. River Island Neon Spike Rings – Was £5, Now £0.50
Uhm.. it’s practically free!! I’m sure they’ll look rad with my pink fingerless gloves. If it fails, I’ll just utilise them as toothpicks.

8. River Island Palm Print Denim Hotpants – Was £25, Now £10
It’s never too early to start prepping for summer. The summer sunshine is IN me and it’s always on the lookout for summery attire. Such a cool print and for only £10! I’m happy.

After my 30% off ASOS discount, I spent a total of £80.90 for all eight items above.

Shopping the sales really isn’t that complicated and shouldn’t be so much of a mission. Remember – TIME is money too! Time is valuable. I wouldn’t spend HOURS on the internet trying to find the absolute BEST deal. In the end you might find some superb dress for 1p or something, but you’ll have blown away 4 hours of your life sitting in front of a screen.

With that in mind, here are my essential, very concise tips for the January sales, because you really shouldn’t be reading so many words ABOUT shopping before you even begin..:

  • Pretty much ALL stores will be holding sales in January. Simply visit your favourite sites first and see if there’s anything you love from the sales section.
  • Discounted items mean that sizes are often limited, so when there’s a large selection of items and where possible, make sure you filter the items by sizes available so you can save even MORE time.
  • Seen something you liked previously but couldn’t afford it? Check again! Might be on sale NOW.
  • Many shops actively use social media these days, so check their Twitter or Facebook pages to see if you can spot any discount/promo/free shipping codes floating around. Try Google too, or of course.. Vouchercodes.
  • My best tip: NUS student codes are easily found via google.
  • Can’t find anything you love enough to buy? Don’t force it! Just because it’s sale season doesn’t mean you HAVE to buy something.

Lastly, don’t get tempted by all the discounts and end up buying junk that you’ll never use. On the flipside, I mostly see the sales as encouragement and opportunity for me to experiment with wearing EVEN more adventurous/crazy things.

Enjoy shopping! But more importantly, enjoy LIFE 😉

Thank you again Vouchercodes, I had fun shopping.

I decided I would stay up to 2am (again) to enter Sherin’s Next shoe competition.

Basically, I had to pick seven pairs of shoes from Next and and style them with clothes that are also from Next. I sometimes use my Wacom tablet as a mouse so I thought it would be fun to play around with it and do some handwriting and super amateur drawing.

Err.. I haven’t learnt yet to use Polyvore.. so these images were created using Sketchbook Express.

What do you think? Should I quit my job and become a stylist? Haha
Not sure if I’ll win, but it was fun putting together these sets – I even managed to concentrate for a FULL HOUR doing this. It’s a miracle!
OK.. now I can finally go watch an episode of ‘2 Broke Girls’

All clothing featured in this post can be found on the Next online store – just type in the item name into the search box!

If you already follow me on Instagram..this will be kind of a zzz post for you, oops..

I barely post on this blog anymore as I’m always on the go and moments when I can sit at my laptop these days are super rare! So I end up telling the world about my activities and whereabouts via Twitter and Instagram – my two favourite and most-used apps on my phone. It’s just so much easier and it’s handy, especially since my phone fits in my pocket and my normal camera doesn’t.

Anyway, here are some pics of clothes/shopping/what I wore over the last two months, i.e. February – March 2012 via Instagram compilation a.k.a. lame excuse for a post. But well it’s my blog I can do whatever I want..

IMG 3074
When it was still cold
Sweater – H&M
Yellow Jeans – Topshop
IMG 3257
I was happy on this day cos I found my trusty old yellow beanie that I wore to death during the last winter.
Beanie – H&M
Cashmere cardi – vintage
Top – sister’s
IMG 3346
This is a 20s/30s era hat that I found in Brick Lane
It’s velvety and the real-life colour is a deep, rich purple
IMG 3417
Leggings – Topshop
Boots – F21
IMG 3472
Sandals for summer – Ecoté @ Urban Outfitters
Too bad they totally demolished me the first time I wore them, which was a mere few days ago.
So much so that I had to run to Boots to buy bandaids.. which didn’t really even work. I ended up folding down the backs of the shoes and stepping onto them *painforfashion*
IMG 3477
Acid wash pink jeans – Urban Outfitters

Absolutely love these jeans
Have worn them a fair number of times since I bought them = value purchase
IMG 3492
Floral shirt – vintage
Leggings – Topshop
Bunny ring – H&M
IMG 3617
This is going to be THE spring blazer of my wardrobe this year
It’s a bit loud
It’s a bit crazy
A bit colourful
i.e. it’s so me!
Floral blazer – Zara

My iPhone case is by Kate Spade.
IMG 3669
Burnt orange wedges – Urban Outfitters
(yes I did a big shop there recently!)
IMG 3721
Shorts for the summer – Topshop
These are high-waisted and have only a zip closure at the back
Can’t wait to wear them when I get the chance!
I got a neon yellow top from ASOS (not shown in this post) that will go superbly with this.
IMG 3735
I call these pants (sorry – pants are pants.. I don’t say ‘trousers’) my pajama pants. Cos that’s what they feel like! Except they’re socially acceptable in public (in my opinion anyway).
Cropped Top – Leftblock
Pants – H&M
IMG 3782
Mesh top – Urban Outfitters (yes.. more)
Necklace – some remnant from some household item years ago
IMG 3783
And these are the last things I bought from UO!
Coloruful knit bodycon skirt and a stripey tank top.
And that concludes my Instagram clothes roundup
[find me on Instagram as smallcrazy]
++++++++++++++++++++++++
Two more sleeps and I’m off back to Malaysia for three weeks!
I’ll be spending the Easter weekend on a road trip with my family, and then going to a beautiful island in the north-east to complete a diving course with my sister.
The following weekend, it will be my fun friend Joyce’s birthday, and we’ll be celebrating it with a whole bunch of her friends in a big villa in the forest.
Looking forward to all the fooood and sunnnn and party time!
But most of all, I’m happiest to be seeing my mama and papa again.

If you’ve been a long-time reader, you’ll know that I rarely ever write about products that catch my eye online when I’m doing my regular window-shop-browse and prefer to share more personal content. But today, I’m having a relaxing time indoors after a delicious lunch in town so I’ll sit here by the sunshine from the window and share a couple of items of note while browsing for shoes on a particular website.

[in a way I am actually procrastinating sharing my gazillion holiday snaps with you.. heh]

83429_350_A39879_350_A

Left: Chie Mihara – Edesa in yellow

I really love these – the laces are such a good twist, they make it look fun
I imagine I’d wear them with paperbag shorts and a loose, silky top. I’d probably do some colour-blocking as well.. seeing as I love colour so much! (ps – yellow is my favourite colour for shoes)

Right: Atelier Voisin – Favre in blue

It’s the wedge heel and laces at the back that got me.. For some reason I imagine wearing them to take beautiful photos around Lake Como in Italy. It’s just got that vibe.. and besides, I’d love to go there again.

Left: C.Doux Sydoux flats in black/orange/maroon
Right: in grey/rose/blue

I just think these are so funky! A little weird, but cool. I think I could pull them off with some tapered or cropped pants to do lots of walking and prancing about. I’d wear these so much if I still lived in Malaysia/Australia. I prefer the black pair 🙂

Interesting note: these shoes also come in a minuscule UK size 2.5 –
Great news for all you petite girls with cute and tiny feet!

Ballerinas-Melissa-ULTRAGIRL-WESTWOOD-73326_350_ASandals-Kesslord-PIE-89843_350_A
Left: Melissa Ultragirl Westwood in blue

It’s obvious (if you know me) that I like this Melissa pair for the simple fact that they’re blue. Such perfect shoes for a holiday! I imagine mixing up lots of patterns and colours, with a big fat sunhat somewhere. Or jumping into a swimming pool with them. Gosh that actually sounds like so much fun that I feel compelled to buy them and find a pool just so I can do exactly that.

Right: Kesslord Pie sandals in black

I love this pair for its simplicity and functionality. It’s a rather conservative – but these days I find it quite a challenge to find something basic, like a staple item, that isn’t wrong/gone overboard in some way or other.. I’d love to have these ‘ugly’ sandals for visits to the beach (on holiday abroad, ha), lots of running around and even playing frisbee. That’s versatility!

Bertie.

When I first see the word, I think of.. a stereotypically bespectacled, nerdy boy wearing a checked shirt, shorts, and suspenders. Who nibbles on stale cookies.

But recently, I’ve come to know Bertie as Bertie Shoes – an up-and-coming brand of footwear, part of The Dune Group, boasting two new stores in London (South Molton St and Covent Garden). Last night I went with Emma to the launch of the SS ‘11 collection at the Covent Garden store.

It was my first time seeing their shoes in person – they’re nice! Not as edgy or as colourful as I like, but the quality was good and designs still kept in line with current trends.

Here are photos.. we had lots of fun. Especially in the photobooth.
I was saying, “If I’d known there’d be a photobooth here I would’ve brought my OWN props too!!”
My masks, moustaches, funny glasses, hats, etc

P3234320
P3234294

One of the first things that caught my eye – Haribo
This could be attributed to either 1) I was hungry, or 2) They’re really colourful

P3234292 P3234308

There were cupcakes, sandwiches, popcorn, and most importantly Crabbie’s alcoholic ginger beer
They’re the best

P3234296

P3234298

“Oh my goodness! There’s a.. a.. a piece of someone’s TOE in here!”

“That’s amazing, let me find the Toe Mode and get a photo”

P3234300

The maroon/mauve pair in this design was so popular that it wasn’t even on the shelf for me to photograph. I’m guessing at least 3/4 of the girls picked that one!

They really do look amazing on

(thank you Bertie for gifting us a pair of shoes each)

P3234303

Some of the shoes I tried
Unfortunately, I’m not a very patient person
So in fact, these were really the only ones I sat down and tried on

P3234311P3234309

Then I spotted something YELLOW!

P3234304

“How many times would you actually wear this out anyway?”
That’s true.

I’m not the kind of girl who trots around in high heels unless it’s a special occasion or if I REALLY feel like it (in which case I’ll pack some flats in my bag, unless it’s one of those rare, comfortable pairs).

I’m the kind of girl who loves being outdoors
Walking and skipping and dancing and hopping
Running around and pretending to ice-skate when it’s slippery
Prancing through grass and racing up steps

That kind.

P3234307

And so it came down to these two pairs
I really love the tapestry one

P3234313

But I couldn’t resist the yellow
And I decided, one day I’ll be skipping along the canals wearing them
Outside my new flat in Camden
🙂

P3234312P3234319

P3234317

P3234323

P3234324

Wooooohh… sunshiney!
Egg yolky!
Sunflowery!
Honey! Butter! Custard!
The Yellow Brick Road in The Wizard of Oz!

These are great things for a pair of shoes to be associated with 🙂

P3234332

P3234333

The PhotoBooth was the best part of our night
We went four times – Bertie kept one copy and Pecan has the other

We like looking like idiots

Wednesday was a super day

Joyce, like the last time I was back (in October 2009), so very kindly took me out and about. You see, I hold a valid driving license but I don’t really drive. It’s too scary here and I don’t know the roads well enough…
Basically, I’m a chicken -_-

We had tea at a new restaurant called ‘Plan B’, which apparently has extremely slow service and occasionally includes insects in your food. We shared the most delicious plate of French Toast – luckily for us it didn’t take too long and came with no living things! She took me shopping for DVDs and clothes, and we later met a couple of friends at a bar for drinks and food. Felt like she was my big sister, haha.

Most importantly though, we visited a fairly new boutique: The Old Blossom Box Store
I used to browse the Malaysia-based online store from London, but refrained from purchasing anything due to shipping costs.. and perhaps not knowing how to use Western Union. SO I was really excited to see all the pretty things in real life and also to meet Jezmine, the extremely sweet owner and creator of The Old Blossom Box.

Here come LOTS of pictures, cos everything was so NICE!

When I was hot and sweaty and yucky
But luckily that didn’t get captured onto the camera, ha

I like the cat. It makes me laugh!

Crazy-colourful brooches. Can you guess which one I got?

P2234017

I really liked these necklace versions but hmm i’m not that sure.
Still got a day to think about it
I love the store so much I’m going again tomorrow!

The decor of the whole store reminds me of things like Bambi, candyfloss, carnivals, a cupcake store, TOYS, and ice cream. There are lots of small animals and little ornaments everywhere, even a small rocking chair to hang bags on. I was going to photograph this to share but there was a customer blocking the area oops.

The picture on the right reminds me of my sister, whose name is partially ‘Jane’ 🙂

Me and the wonderful Jezmine

I loved so many things at her store
Very affordable as well
For RM350 (approx £70), I managed 6 tops and a skirt!

Here, I’ll show you some of the things I got!

We visited another boutique called Sevendays, from which I bought a dress, shirt, and skirt.

All of the above from The Old Blossom Box Store
I can’t wait till the warmer weather – in London – so I can wear them ALL

P2244065

Light blue shirt from OBB
Sheer shirt + skirt from Sevendays

Below are the accessories that Jezmine kindly gifted me as part of my purchase

This is something I’m looking forward to wearing to a festival when summer arrives!
Or really just any other day..

Love this cos of the colour

THANKS a bunch Jezmine!
You – and also Joyce – have restored my faith in Malaysian shopping
Just that I’ll probably be broke by the time I leave the country
