Ciao! A simple post about something I wore this afternoon.. šŸ™‚

It didn’t rain! It (the weather forecast person) said it would but it didn’t.. for that reason alone I was happy.

red and pink

Coat – ASOS // Circle Scarf – American Apparel // Vintage Leggings // Shoes – c/o Valentino

Do you like how I’ve matched my clothes to my shoes?

These will be perfect for riding my skateboard in the summer!

And yes those are marks on my skin from when I was wearing socks earlier.. haha

It’s been so long since I published an outfit post full of.. myself.. that it almost feels strange.

And here’s me without the coat.

Yellow jumper.. literally..

AN EVERYDAY IN LONDON

I realise that I almost never write about my everyday life in LondonĀ – the more routine stuff that happens between my travels. So let me tell you about today!

But wait,Ā LAST NIGHT! I had the most awesome dream.. magic! I was riding a motorbike at night with my sister cruising down a curved countryside road and then suddenly.. MARS was visible in the sky. A big, browny-orange ball in the sky. Then lots of other planets started appearing. Before long, I could see what seemed like the whole universe and a million stars above.. It was crazy!Ā

I have the luxury of waking up naturallyĀ i.e. without an alarm. I’m normally awake at about 8.30 or 9.00 in the morning. I LOVE sleeping with all the blinds/curtains open, do you?

After a bit of lazing around, I play a happy song (really, what else do I listen to?) on my iPod and I get up to dance. I continue dancing in the shower. Then I lounge around the flat naked.. To me it’s a hugeĀ joy to be able to take my leisurely time feeding myself and getting dressed and ready for the day.

This particular Monday I decided I wouldn’t go to the office. I ran some errands in West London. Made a stop back home in Central. Then back on the tube to East London. Traversing the city using public transport can be really tiring! I switched to walking , did some shopping, ate cookie and ice-cream, and eventually ended up back at home.

I’d had a long day so I relax by watching a couple of TED talks, catching up with Lumosity, and eating a whole bag of Jack Link’s JalapeƱo beef jerky that I’d got from a friend. I then have a quick nap, die a littleĀ doing some chores, and get some work done on my laptop (as my job is flexible I get to work at my own time). On this particular night I haven’t got any social plans (phew!).

I also replaced my bedding with fresh stuff and added a top sheet (do you use one?), because the current love of my life, Ricardo, will be visiting šŸ™‚

Now you must be like, “Yeah I prefer the travel stories..”

Yep, ME TOO!

A quickie post with pics of some things I wore in Rotterdam last month (all of which obviously I no longer possess, haha. if you have no idea what I’m talking about, read this and this).Rotterdam was mostly cold for the end of May, but we did get one warm day. I made a day trip to Kinderdijk to see the windmills as it’s a UNESCO World Heritage site. Thanks to the sun, I had the luxury of doing this wearing a skirt!kinderdijk outfit

I’ve had the shirt for something like three years now, but this was only the second time I’d worn it. I’m pretty sure this is a common occurrence amongst fashion-conscious people..

Sometimes I feel like I have too many clothes yet.. not. Ignore me. First-world problem here!

french connection shoes

These grey suede Oxford shoes were gifted to me by French Connection UK, via Spreaditfast, just in time for my trip. At the time they retailed at Ā£95, but lucky you it’s the summer sales and they’re now tremendously marked down to Ā£28.50/Ā£38 (depending on colour) šŸ˜‰

The first time I wore them they kinda hurt my feet after just an hour. But after that, they were great.. I did run into a few compliments when I had them on. In this case I say YES it matters what other people think, esp if it gives you a confidence boost.. haha!

mirror shot

I experimented pairing the shoes with other colours in another outfit one evening.. since I had some time to kill and was alone in my apartment,

I think out of all the items featured in this post, I miss my crazy bright leggings the most. They would’ve been awesome to wear at the festivals I’ll be attending this summer!

PS – If you’re a Londoner/live in the UK, how AMAZING was the weather this weekend just past?? I even got a tan by laying at the park for hours in a bikini!Ā

These photos are from a month ago when we visited what I thought was one of the most beautiful parks ever. It’s so little in terms of area/land but I found myself gushing at its beauty over and over again while walking through it until I was asked to be quiet.
The park is simply called Boston Manor Park and it’s in.. Boston Manor. If you live in West London you should definitely make a visit! Such an unexpected gem. You’ll feel like you’re in a fairytale.

I was surprised that I bought these shoes
I don’t normally like clogs, but these proved to be amazingly comfortable, and so I did the obvious thing and got them in both colours – red and white.

While it was warm, I wore them nearly every day..
Such a tragedy that it’s suddenly gone cold again.. it’s actually a tease!

I was so excited that I took a photo of the sunny sun.

P4240567 P4240570 P4240585

I am in love with this gigantic tree
Look how far its arms stretch out, as if to say ‘hug me!’

We had a picnic near it – not under it; the Big Tree loves the sun too so it barely has any gaps for any leftover rays to meet the ground

P4240596 P4240597

They’re a bit ugly, aren’t they? haha
I still like them

P4240611

I took Martin, my toy alien, out too and we recorded a video together
And then I played frisbee and tried to climb Big Tree (but didn’t get very far)

If youā€™ve been a long-time reader, youā€™ll know that I rarely ever write about products that catch my eye online when Iā€™m doing my regular window-shop-browse and prefer to share more personal content. But today, Iā€™m having a relaxing time indoors after a delicious lunch in town so Iā€™ll sit here by the sunshine from the window and share a couple of items of note while browsing for shoes on a particular website.

[in a way I am actually procrastinating sharing my gazillion holiday snaps with you.. heh]

Left: Chie Mihara – Edesa in yellow

I really love these – the laces are such a good twist, they make it look fun
I imagine I’d wear them with paperbag shorts and a loose, silky top. I’d probably do some colour-blocking as well.. seeing as I love colour so much! (ps – yellow is my favourite colour for shoes)

Right: Atelier Voisin – Favre in blue

It’s the wedge heel and laces at the back that got me.. For some reason I imagine wearing them to take beautiful photos around Lake Como in Italy. It’s just got that vibe.. and besides, I’d love to go there again.

I just think these are so funky! A little weird, but cool. I think I could pull them off with some tapered or cropped pants to do lots of walking and prancing about. I’d wear these so much if I still lived in Malaysia/Australia. I prefer the black pair šŸ™‚

Interesting note: these shoes also come in a minuscule UK size 2.5 –
Great news for all you petite girls with cute and tiny feet!

Left: Melissa Ultragirl Westwood in blue

It’s obvious (if you know me) that I like this Melissa pair for the simple fact that they’re blue. Such perfect shoes for a holiday! I imagine mixing up lots of patterns and colours, with a big fat sunhat somewhere. Or jumping into a swimming pool with them. Gosh that actually sounds like so much fun that I feel compelled to buy them and find a pool just so I can do exactly that.

Right: Kesslord Pie sandals in black

I love this pair for its simplicity and functionality. It’s a rather conservative – but these days I find it quite a challenge to find something basic, like a staple item, that isn’t wrong/gone overboard in some way or other.. I’d love to have these ‘ugly’ sandals for visits to the beach (on holiday abroad, ha), lots of running around and even playing frisbee. That’s versatility!

Shoes – Bertie

P4034977a

These shoes were a gift from Bertie (thank you)

Iā€™ve worn them a bazillion times since, to all sorts of different places
Iā€™ve played football and run through a thunderstorm in them
Theyā€™ve sunbathed by the pier in Brighton and gone dancing on the street

Needless to say, theyā€™re now a little faded, a little dirty, and a little tired-looking
I tell myself it gives them character and will remind me of all the fun Iā€™ve had wearing them šŸ˜‰

Bertie.

When I first see the word, I think of.. a stereotypically bespectacled, nerdy boy wearing a checked shirt, shorts, and suspenders. Who nibbles on stale cookies.

But recently, Iā€™ve come to know Bertie as Bertie Shoes ā€“ an up-and-coming brand of footwear, part of The Dune Group, boasting two new stores in London (South Molton St and Covent Garden). Last night I went with Emma to the launch of the SS ā€˜11 collection at the Covent Garden store.

It was my first time seeing their shoes in person ā€“ theyā€™re nice! Not as edgy or as colourful as I like, but the quality was good and designs still kept in line with current trends.

Here are photos.. we had lots of fun. Especially in the photobooth.
I was saying, ā€œIf Iā€™d known thereā€™d be a photobooth here I wouldā€™ve brought my OWN props too!!ā€
My masks, moustaches, funny glasses, hats, etc

P3234320
P3234294

One of the first things that caught my eye – Haribo
This could be attributed to either 1) I was hungry, or 2) They’re really colourful

P3234292 P3234308

There were cupcakes, sandwiches, popcorn, and most importantly Crabbie’s alcoholic ginger beer
They’re the best

P3234296

P3234298

“Oh my goodness! There’s a.. a.. a piece of someone’s TOE in here!”

“That’s amazing, let me find the Toe Mode and get a photo”

P3234300

The maroon/mauve pair in this design was so popular that it wasn’t even on the shelf for me to photograph. I’m guessing at least 3/4 of the girls picked that one!

They really do look amazing on

(thank you Bertie for gifting us a pair of shoes each)

P3234303

Some of the shoes I tried
Unfortunately, I’m not a very patient person
So in fact, these were really the only ones I sat down and tried on

P3234311P3234309

Then I spotted something YELLOW!

P3234304

“How many times would you actually wear this out anyway?”
That’s true.

I’m not the kind of girl who trots around in high heels unless it’s a special occasion or if I REALLY feel like it (in which case I’ll pack some flats in my bag, unless it’s one of those rare, comfortable pairs).

I’m the kind of girl who loves being outdoors
Walking and skipping and dancing and hopping
Running around and pretending to ice-skate when it’s slippery
Prancing through grass and racing up steps

That kind.

P3234307

And so it came down to these two pairs
I really love the tapestry one

P3234313

But I couldn’t resist the yellow
And I decided, one day I’ll be skipping along the canals wearing them
Outside my new flat in Camden

P3234323

P3234324

Wooooohh… sunshiney!
Egg yolky!
Sunflowery!
Honey! Butter! Custard!
The Yellow Brick Road in The Wizard of Oz!

These are great things for a pair of shoes to be associated with šŸ™‚

The PhotoBooth was the best part of our night
We went four times – Bertie kept one copy and Pecan has the other

We like looking like idiots

++++++++++++++++++

Check out the Bertie Shoes collection here
PS – they also make shoes for men

Thank you Bertie for a fab night
I think you can tell I love my new shoes!
