It’s been so long since I published an outfit post full of.. myself.. that it almost feels strange.

AN EVERYDAY IN LONDON

I realise that I almost never write about my everyday life in London – the more routine stuff that happens between my travels. So let me tell you about today!

But wait, LAST NIGHT! I had the most awesome dream.. magic! I was riding a motorbike at night with my sister cruising down a curved countryside road and then suddenly.. MARS was visible in the sky. A big, browny-orange ball in the sky. Then lots of other planets started appearing. Before long, I could see what seemed like the whole universe and a million stars above.. It was crazy! 

I have the luxury of waking up naturally i.e. without an alarm. I’m normally awake at about 8.30 or 9.00 in the morning. I LOVE sleeping with all the blinds/curtains open, do you?

After a bit of lazing around, I play a happy song (really, what else do I listen to?) on my iPod and I get up to dance. I continue dancing in the shower. Then I lounge around the flat naked.. To me it’s a huge joy to be able to take my leisurely time feeding myself and getting dressed and ready for the day.

This particular Monday I decided I wouldn’t go to the office. I ran some errands in West London. Made a stop back home in Central. Then back on the tube to East London. Traversing the city using public transport can be really tiring! I switched to walking , did some shopping, ate cookie and ice-cream, and eventually ended up back at home.

I’d had a long day so I relax by watching a couple of TED talks, catching up with Lumosity, and eating a whole bag of Jack Link’s Jalapeño beef jerky that I’d got from a friend. I then have a quick nap, die a little doing some chores, and get some work done on my laptop (as my job is flexible I get to work at my own time). On this particular night I haven’t got any social plans (phew!).

I also replaced my bedding with fresh stuff and added a top sheet (do you use one?), because the current love of my life, Ricardo, will be visiting 🙂

Now you must be like, “Yeah I prefer the travel stories..”

I was hoping to receive them in time before I went off to Portugal and Spain last month but that didn’t happen. So here are some pics of me wearing them as I enjoyed some sunshine.. at home.. in my bikini! This is something I do quite often during the winter actually – whenever the sun’s out. If you can’t do it outside, why not in, right?

^HAhahaha ok basically I was so high on sunshine and self-love that I thought it would be a fantastic idea to keep taking pictures of myself wearing my cool new sunglasses. Cos I thought I looked pretty damn good in them (and I don’t care if you think not :p).

They fit great! This particular design also comes in BLUE (I know, the blue is SO ME isn’t it!). But seeing as I’ve given away my RayBans to my sister/mom I might get a replacement for those instead.

The photos start from two days after I first got it cut and dyed.

TWO DAYS

The colour appeared slightly uneven – you can see some parts which were a brownish/yellowish hue due to stubborn old dye that stuck on despite the bleach. But I kinda liked it that way.

FOUR DAYS

At this stage the shape of my haircut was still sharp and defined.. hmm I miss that!

ONE WEEK

This was taken in Lisbon.. as you can see I’m biting my festival tickets..

TEN DAYS

Still in Lisbon, this photo was taken at Caparica beach

You can see that the purple has faded a lot and become a bit dreamy. At this point I started washing my hair with strong conditioner (when you use so much bleach you need a LOT of this!) that I mixed with some hot pink hair dye. So as the purple faded, some light pink started to be visible.

Mixing some dye in your conditioner is a great and easy way to keep a fading colour from looking too manky. It doesn’t stain your hands (don’t mix in too much!) and you can do it when you’re having a shower.

I order my dyes from this website (Beeunique) – I keep some at home for top-ups/experimentation! They stock Special Effects (my preferred option) and Manic Panic dyes, amongst a whole load of other brands (Directions, Crazy Colour, etc). If I don’t use the conditioner-trick and want to keep the original colour instead, I simply top-up/dye over at home every 1-2 weeks.

This photo was taken over the weekend, when I had a massive picnic at Hyde Park for my birthday! My hair was somewhat a cotton-candy shade..

I thought I’d throw in a little Instagram video that I did.. as you can kinda see my hair in it too. 😉

FOUR WEEKS

This was literally taken TODAY, after a shower i.e. a fresh coat of pink laced hair conditioner. The purple has all but gone and what’s left is a pale shade of pink.. which I kinda like. I’ll see how long I can go before I get annoyed/impatient and have to message William to ‘please fix my hair!’

WELL I hope you enjoyed this series of PICTURES OF MY FACE. No really I do. Cos I did spend freakin’ ages picking out these photos thanks to my disorganisation and the fact that I have media stored in too many places.

Sometimes I think I own too many gadgets.. most of which I don’t even USE, e.g. my iPad which has been collecting dust since March.. and my iPod nano that’s sitting in my box of earrings. I also have a flat screen TV somewhere.. and a very bored Playstation 3 + Nintendo DS. And a spare laptop. I should really sell them – then I’ll have more to spend on things like TRAVEL (my true passion) and CLOTHES (my other love). I’d say it could help with the cost of maintaining my hairs – but then I don’t pay for that, hehe.

I’m well versed with selling clothes and fashiony things on eBay, but not electronics. What do you do with gadgets you don’t need anymore?? A friend of mine sold his Xbox 360 on this site, which is a company that conveniently buys all your gadgety stuff. Though I’m sure you can get more money if you used something like Gumtree.. if you don’t mind sifting through all the dodgy people and time-wasters, that is. Ok this is already thought-provoking enough for me… I guess this is why I still uselessly own all these things -_-

Back to the topic: Do any of you bleach or dye your hair? Do you love it? Can you never go back to your natural colour?

I kinda miss wearing a light jacket. Or maybe this is my inner voice telling me how much I miss the Copenhagen-bought parka that I lost in Rotterdam. But this could be an opportunity to get a new, less-expensive one.. it’ll be handy for when I go to Wilderness Festival in two weeks! Was looking at this selection of parkas (by New Look) – I like the jade green elephant print one.. what do you think? If it were neon it would already be in my wardrobe.. obviously

It was so tempting to WASTE my money on these Beano toys and candy.. they had so much crap that I’d LOVE to stuff my picnic bag with!!! But I practised self-restraint and simply eyed them..

You could go into ‘Dennis’ tree house’ and doodle on the walls.. Admittedly I was too lazy. And if I did go in I’d just end up drawing rude body parts all over and get kicked out or something.

People doing art and craft! It looked so boring yet relaxing.. hehe.

Many of my friends got very amused by this..  I just saw the floor decal and couldn’t resist. What ELSE is it for, right??

Trying to get some of the London skyline in.. I miss my pink hair (that I had for 5-6 weeks – it’s a faded ash purple now).

I almost ALWAYS spend at least a few minutes watching the talented skateboarders/bmx bikers doing their tricks there whenever I’m in the area. I hope it gets to stay!

It’s my birthday today so I’m off to celebrate in the sun now.. !

Wore this outfit to Regent’s Park. I brought my sticker-infested ukulele along and wrapped up some PB&J sandwiches (did I tell you I’m addicted). I played two songs there 😀

That was after I found THIS TREE.. it’s like the best tree ever. It had loads of branches, and all very climbable (I checked with Google, that is a real word ok). You must be able to swim though, cos it’s quite near the water and you may fall in.

I wish I could take the tree home and decorate it with balloons, tinsel, lights, stickers, and some baby red pandas.

I walked up and down the biggest lowest branch several times. Tried to swing off one of the higher ones and hurt my hands.. *note to self – next time bring GLOVES*

This was to show you the colours in my hair and how they actually MATCH my jumper.
But it turned out to be a pic of my face looking DUMB cos it was so sunny and bright, hence I couldn’t open my eyes properly!

Sigh.. I miss my clothes.

It’s a real bummer I lost all that stuff, especially all my MAKEUP. But as my mom says, at least *I* wasn’t stolen. I’m still here and healthy and intact. And happy.

I try to take what happened as a reminder to not place too much importance on material items. I am a lucky person! I mean look.. I can see, smell, hear, and taste. I can walk and talk and sing and dance. I can feel the cold of the snow and the heat of the sun. I have food and friends and family. So really, as long as I have my iPhone (kidding!), I’m fully equipped to be the best that I can be.

I like this so much better than the previous green/turquoise, especially since I’ve MISSED the pink that I had over the summer.

The dyes I used were Special Effects Atomic Pink, and Directions Plum. I buy my dyes and bleach kits (Manic Panic Flashlightning – Amplified) online here.

I really hate dressing during the winter.. I’ve got thick wool tights under those leggings and three layers under that jumper. Makes me feel so THICK and totally UNglam.

The first time I washed my hair after this dye job, it was like an EXPLOSION of blackcurrant. The purple is so strong that later on when I’d dried off and gone to my room, I looked into the mirror only to realise that my FACE was a shade of purple. My hands looked like zombie hands.

Someone (can’t remember who) said I must’ve been the image of a real life oompa loompa.

This great pair of shorts were passed on to me by Joyce. Actually, it was more like I borrowed them and I didn’t want to give them back! I loved the pockets too much. They’re really comfortable and now err tooootally matches my hair.

She had gotten it from AZORIAS, a one-year-old online store based in Malaysia selling mainly Korean fashion items, run by my friend, HuiWen. They ship internationally (£17 standard shipping to GB) and dresses – really pretty ones! – start from about £25 up to £40+.

Bag is a super old, overworn, mangy old Topshop item.. I can’t seem to stop using it as I feel it goes with everything! But then again.. I feel a lot of things go with everything..

All photos were taken in South Ealing. It had been over a year since I moved out of that area into Central London, and I wanted to go back to reminisce and be nostalgic. Haha.

It was amazingly nice to be back in the familiar tree-lined suburban, residential streets. Living so close to the city has spoilt me and I had become used to having a dozens of bus/train lines within a five minute walk from my flat. Back in South Ealing, there was only one tube line to use – the Piccadilly Line – and one bus that stopped at the end of the street – the 65.

It was good to spend the day walking more slowly, stopping for longer to admire the plants and snails/cats/etc, and then having the most delicious Sunday roast and cider at the local pub.

Except that.. after walking for a couple of hours, those bloody shoes gave me such a bad blister that I had to swap them for the sandals I so conveniently packed in my bag. Screw you, shoes! You almost ruined my day!! Nah.. just kidding.. I had an awesome day anyway.
