On Thursday I stopped by the Tabio store on High Street Kensington for a press event
It was to showcase their new items and designs from the new spring/summer collection

This is supposed to be what I thought was a ‘versatile’/out and about outfit, as I had two jobs to go to before the event.. Ha

Shirt – Dahlia
Skirt – Zara
Salmon pink tights – H&M
Brogues – Topshop

My shoes are on sale.. if anyone’s interested.. I have them in brown as well.. UK5!

This is a Furoshiki
See below picture for more clarity as to what it actually is!

Tabio were kind enough to give me one
Along with a pair of really cute lace socks, over which the Furoshiki was wrapped

I was having trouble deciding on an item from the store to take home

I feel terrible for not remembering the name of this man, but he was super nice and helpful, showing me around what he thought were the ‘crazier’ designs, and whatever that was yellow after I told him yellow was one of my favourite colours

I snapped this photo of him with the instructions ‘do a crazy face’
Hmm.. I’m sure he was holding himself back!

P5121690

These are pretty rad
I just wish they made thin tights or socks like that instead of thick, unflattering.. legwarmers?
It’s summer!

P5121695

P5121702
I laughed at this
Doesn’t it look like something out of a cartoon? Haha

P5121697

I was lucky to meet Kitty (left) and Ayu
I had lots of fun chatting with them

Kitty is from Hong Kong and is the manager of the Tabio store on Kings Road in Chelsea
Ayu comes from Shanghai and works in online sales (?)

P5121704

Upon my request, Kitty kindly put on these tights for a few of us to see
As I was short and wanted to see what it looked like on a little person 😀

They’re the pair I took home in the end
I’ll share more when I get a chance to wear them.. !

P5121709

This is Cara, the store manager of the Westfield branch
She was really smiley and fun to talk to!

I felt that the whole event was such a success mainly owing to the amazing staff who were there to make everyone feel welcome

Thank you to Lois for the invitation

You can follow the Tabio team on twitter here
Or ‘like’ them on their Facebook page

Bertie.

When I first see the word, I think of.. a stereotypically bespectacled, nerdy boy wearing a checked shirt, shorts, and suspenders. Who nibbles on stale cookies.

But recently, I’ve come to know Bertie as Bertie Shoes – an up-and-coming brand of footwear, part of The Dune Group, boasting two new stores in London (South Molton St and Covent Garden). Last night I went with Emma to the launch of the SS ‘11 collection at the Covent Garden store.

It was my first time seeing their shoes in person – they’re nice! Not as edgy or as colourful as I like, but the quality was good and designs still kept in line with current trends.

Here are photos.. we had lots of fun. Especially in the photobooth.
I was saying, “If I’d known there’d be a photobooth here I would’ve brought my OWN props too!!”
My masks, moustaches, funny glasses, hats, etc

P3234320
P3234294

One of the first things that caught my eye – Haribo
This could be attributed to either 1) I was hungry, or 2) They’re really colourful

P3234292 P3234308

There were cupcakes, sandwiches, popcorn, and most importantly Crabbie’s alcoholic ginger beer
They’re the best

P3234296

P3234298

“Oh my goodness! There’s a.. a.. a piece of someone’s TOE in here!”

“That’s amazing, let me find the Toe Mode and get a photo”

P3234300

The maroon/mauve pair in this design was so popular that it wasn’t even on the shelf for me to photograph. I’m guessing at least 3/4 of the girls picked that one!

They really do look amazing on

(thank you Bertie for gifting us a pair of shoes each)

P3234303

Some of the shoes I tried
Unfortunately, I’m not a very patient person
So in fact, these were really the only ones I sat down and tried on

P3234311P3234309

Then I spotted something YELLOW!

P3234304

“How many times would you actually wear this out anyway?”
That’s true.

I’m not the kind of girl who trots around in high heels unless it’s a special occasion or if I REALLY feel like it (in which case I’ll pack some flats in my bag, unless it’s one of those rare, comfortable pairs).

I’m the kind of girl who loves being outdoors
Walking and skipping and dancing and hopping
Running around and pretending to ice-skate when it’s slippery
Prancing through grass and racing up steps

That kind.

P3234307

And so it came down to these two pairs
I really love the tapestry one

P3234313

But I couldn’t resist the yellow
And I decided, one day I’ll be skipping along the canals wearing them
Outside my new flat in Camden
🙂

P3234312P3234319

P3234317

P3234323

P3234324

Wooooohh… sunshiney!
Egg yolky!
Sunflowery!
Honey! Butter! Custard!
The Yellow Brick Road in The Wizard of Oz!

These are great things for a pair of shoes to be associated with 🙂

P3234332

P3234333

The PhotoBooth was the best part of our night
We went four times – Bertie kept one copy and Pecan has the other

We like looking like idiots

++++++++++++++++++

Check out the Bertie Shoes collection here
PS – they also make shoes for men

Thank you Bertie for a fab night
I think you can tell I love my new shoes!

For Bonfire/Guy Fawkes Night this year, the Aussie team organised for a bunch of us to go on the London Eye – in a private pod with food and champagne! – to celebrate the launch of their new Take The Heat range

I got Emma to come along
Admittedly we didn’t have high expectations for this event
And since we were both getting there right after work, neither of us cared to dress up ;p

But no matter

Ended up having what we agreed was one of the best nights out in London so far!

I also have to write – for my records – that we ate the best Japanese takeaway on the floor of a major tube station whilst people speed-walked past and around us in herds before heading down to the river where the meeting point was

Here is a run-down of the night in pictures : :

PB050361

Took this while waiting with the group
Many of the girls came in high heels and pretty dresses

But.. the weather was freezing and it had rained earlier
I simply couldn’t do it!
I’d rather be warm and comfortable..

PB050390

It was my third time on The Eye

I had my first go on it during my first ever week here in London
The summer of 2007.. *nostalgic*

PB050396PB050398

I’m wearing a men’s tee and tights from ASOS
Necklace from Topshop, and shorts by H&M

Emma wears a fur gilet by Topshop – but found at the op shop for a nifty £6

*snuck a laugh at Emma’s pic while typing this.. what’s with her arms? Ha ha*

PB050383

When I first saw ‘Big Ben’ for myself
My first thought was ‘.. that’s not BIG!??!’
I mean, really. It looks so much larger in movies.
I felt cheated. But I still love looking at it.

PB050385

I stupidly forgot to pick the photos that captured the fireworks that were happening all around the city..

As we were suspended high up there
I saw tiny-looking bursts of fireworks pop out everywhere!
I felt so lucky to be able to see London light up from that perspective

If you press your face against the cold glass
Ignore the sounds and other distractions around you
It almost feels magical

Can you imagine what it must be like to be Peter Pan, zooming across the night sky on Bonfire Night??

PB050387 PB050409

Kristabel and the fabulous Emma!

PB050456PB050423

Colours.. 🙂

PB050410

Uhh.. other Emma..
There are toooo many people named Emma in this world..

PB050442PB050440

Us trying to do some sort of ‘artistic photo’
In between trying to drink as much free champagne as possible

We had the opportunity to go for two circles on The Eye
= more time to eat/drink/do silly things hehe

Jewel Bar

When the ride came to its end, everyone tumbled out of the two pods and started walking towards Covent Garden where the night was to continue

Covent Garden is one of my favourite places in London ever
I don’t care I like repeating it

Whilst walking along the street, Emma nudges me and points to a large, black vehicle parked next to the sidewalk. A big, black, longgg hummer/limo with two big men standing by the front door. And then she says..

“Look!”

I turn to look
“Oh.. damn those assholes”
*jealous of whoever might be in there*

*Stops walking*

“Why did you stop? Let’s go..”

“Dude this thing is for US!!!!!!!!!”

GOD I felt so DUMB!!

Freaking EMMA (Aussie Emma)..
Had ordered us two ginormous limos (there was a similar one in white one ahead) to ferry us to Covent Garden!!

PB050462

PB050465

Pics are blurry cos we were over excited -_-

PB050471

That’s Carrie at the back

What better thing to do in the limo than drink more champagne
I remember knocking the bottle on my teeth by accident in my excitement
(Emma and I drank from the bottle as the glasses ran out.. ok..)

Our next stop was Jewel Bar

PB050479 PB050496

There was a fire-eater person thingy outside the venue
And wow you can really feel the heat every time the blows out a puff of fire

PB050500PB050501 PB050524 PB050515 PB050520PB050525 PB050530

There were heaps of snacks and bites
The best thing were these edamame beans with rock salt and chilli powder on them
I had tons *shameless*

And then I nearly finished a whole plate of fried calamari

PB050534

Free cocktails and champagne, too!

PB050514

Emma and I had the most fab time
We danced till our legs ached

When no one wanted to dance with us we went downstairs where LOTS of people were dancing
And we did some crazy moves while laughing at each other

That night, I went home happy

THANKS AUSSIE, BEST NIGHT EVAH
