These photos are from a month ago when we visited what I thought was one of the most beautiful parks ever. It’s so little in terms of area/land but I found myself gushing at its beauty over and over again while walking through it until I was asked to be quiet.
The park is simply called Boston Manor Park and it’s in.. Boston Manor. If you live in West London you should definitely make a visit! Such an unexpected gem. You’ll feel like you’re in a fairytale.

I was surprised that I bought these shoes
I don’t normally like clogs, but these proved to be amazingly comfortable, and so I did the obvious thing and got them in both colours – red and white.

While it was warm, I wore them nearly every day..
Such a tragedy that it’s suddenly gone cold again.. it’s actually a tease!

I was so excited that I took a photo of the sunny sun.

I am in love with this gigantic tree
Look how far its arms stretch out, as if to say ‘hug me!’

We had a picnic near it – not under it; the Big Tree loves the sun too so it barely has any gaps for any leftover rays to meet the ground

They’re a bit ugly, aren’t they? haha
I still like them

I took Martin, my toy alien, out too and we recorded a video together
And then I played frisbee and tried to climb Big Tree (but didn’t get very far)

Our first stop after being picked up from the hotel was for lunch
One of the traditional Indonesian foods there is called ‘Soto Ayam’ with rice (other places may have it with noodles) which is basically a really tasty chicken broth with shredded fried/grilled chicken and other toppings including shredded cabbage, coriander, and meatballs.

We had a local tour guide with us – found via TripAdvisor – and he brought us to a small restaurant which only sold the dish.. well I would call it more of a food shop as the atmosphere was really laid-back and seemed to be frequented by the local people.

Prambanan Temple & Market

The majority of religious people in Indonesia are Muslim, but the country itself is not an Islamic state and practises freedom of religion. Yogyakarta is the only state in Indonesia that isn’t governed by the prime minister – instead the Sultan leads the people and Hinduism/Buddhism influences can be seen in the palace architecture (we visited the palace too but that’ll be in another post). Apparently the Sultan prefers to incorporate symbols of the different religions in the Java region as a sign of equality/harmony.

Prambanan is a 9th century Hindu temple – currently the largest in Indonesia – and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

It was a mighty hot and sunny day
Here are some photos!

That I’ve seen so far, are from Fortnum & Mason
They were an absolute feast for the eyes
Every one of them was so delicately and carefully made

I loved them so much that after spending hours at their Piccadilly store for the first time, I made a special trip back just to take pictures of these magnificent baubles! And no, I didn’t buy any although I was incredibly tempted to – they start at £20 each.
Just think.. these are JUST the baubles.. there was a whole array of other magical-looking types of tree deco you could get! It is the most amazing store *sigh*

Because I was so excited.. there are LOTS of bauble pics
I hope you enjoy them too!

The first snow in London this winter happened at the start of December.
Now that it’s snowed so much again on the 18th, I thought I should hurry up and share some photos from that first snow day

There won’t be much of a story going on.. I have no energy to type

I’m sick for the first time in a year and my head feels like the Earth..
I THINK.. playing for 3 hours in the snow on Saturday may have contributed.. or perhaps it was running out to make a snowman in my pajamas yesterday morning >.<

Some pics from the Hoosiers gig on 30 Nov courtesy of Russian Standard Vodka
It was held at the HMV Forum at Kentish Town
I always laugh at the name – Kentish Town – because it just sounds so dumb. Like Old Street.

The opening act, Pearl & The Puppets, turned out to be amazing
They were fresh and quirky AND the lead singer Pearl plays a ukulele!

Have to admit, I enjoyed them much more than The Hoosiers who were supposed to be the main act. But in all fairness they were both really good. Had a fab night – save for two fat, drunk girls who decided it appropriate to rub against each other while jumping/breaking the floor… one of them later slipped and fell into a puddle of vomit! Haha *evil laugh*

The last time I posted pics from this market was in June 2009 – wow, post also has old crappy pics of what-i-wore ha ha

These were taken about two weeks ago when I spent a couple of hours with the bf, Emma, and Mark traipsing through Portobello Market in the cold. I still have memories of being there in December 2008 – this memory is unforgettable because of how much it felt like torture. It was so so cold I swear my legs ended at my ankles and I had no hands!.

Anyway here are the snaps
The first three were taken in a place called ‘The Knob Shop’.. what a name
But it does exactly what it says. It sells knobs. All kinds of knobs.

PB200856

PB200854 PB200857

One of the most endearing things about Portobello Market (it’s my favourite market in the WHOLE of London) is the street performers.

I love them all.
They play happy music and lots of big-band.
GOOD music.
I always feel like dancing when I’m going down that street.

PB200864 PB200868

A stall selling old dolls’ clothes.. and old dolls
Really, the owner looked scarier than the dolls

I asked for a photo of her but she said no.. I tried!

PB200869 PB200870 PB200872

This reminds me a bit of my mom’s jewellery drawer 🙂

PB200874

Not too sure why but this photo makes me think of the movie Radio Flyer
I LOVE that movie

It’s about two young brothers who dream of FLYING away from their troubled family
They truly believe they can fly by building a flying machine out of their wagon (a Radio Flyer, of course).. and that’s exactly what they do

It reminds me of the feeling of being young
And so easily believing you can do ANYTHING and that NOTHING CAN STOP YOU
Unfazed by reality

PB200878 PB200882PB200885

Emma dug out this AMAZING dinosaur jumper out of the super packed rails at the clothes market! Isn’t it super cool??

PB200888

Great food – always the best way to end the day 😉

For Bonfire/Guy Fawkes Night this year, the Aussie team organised for a bunch of us to go on the London Eye – in a private pod with food and champagne! – to celebrate the launch of their new Take The Heat range

I got Emma to come along
Admittedly we didn’t have high expectations for this event
And since we were both getting there right after work, neither of us cared to dress up ;p

But no matter

Ended up having what we agreed was one of the best nights out in London so far!

I also have to write – for my records – that we ate the best Japanese takeaway on the floor of a major tube station whilst people speed-walked past and around us in herds before heading down to the river where the meeting point was

Here is a run-down of the night in pictures : :

PB050361

Took this while waiting with the group
Many of the girls came in high heels and pretty dresses

But.. the weather was freezing and it had rained earlier
I simply couldn’t do it!
I’d rather be warm and comfortable..

PB050390

It was my third time on The Eye

I had my first go on it during my first ever week here in London
The summer of 2007.. *nostalgic*

PB050396PB050398

I’m wearing a men’s tee and tights from ASOS
Necklace from Topshop, and shorts by H&M

Emma wears a fur gilet by Topshop – but found at the op shop for a nifty £6

*snuck a laugh at Emma’s pic while typing this.. what’s with her arms? Ha ha*

PB050383

When I first saw ‘Big Ben’ for myself
My first thought was ‘.. that’s not BIG!??!’
I mean, really. It looks so much larger in movies.
I felt cheated. But I still love looking at it.

PB050385

I stupidly forgot to pick the photos that captured the fireworks that were happening all around the city..

As we were suspended high up there
I saw tiny-looking bursts of fireworks pop out everywhere!
I felt so lucky to be able to see London light up from that perspective

If you press your face against the cold glass
Ignore the sounds and other distractions around you
It almost feels magical

Can you imagine what it must be like to be Peter Pan, zooming across the night sky on Bonfire Night??

PB050387 PB050409

Kristabel and the fabulous Emma!

PB050456PB050423

Colours.. 🙂

PB050410

Uhh.. other Emma..
There are toooo many people named Emma in this world..

PB050442PB050440

Us trying to do some sort of ‘artistic photo’
In between trying to drink as much free champagne as possible

We had the opportunity to go for two circles on The Eye
= more time to eat/drink/do silly things hehe

Jewel Bar

When the ride came to its end, everyone tumbled out of the two pods and started walking towards Covent Garden where the night was to continue

Covent Garden is one of my favourite places in London ever
I don’t care I like repeating it

Whilst walking along the street, Emma nudges me and points to a large, black vehicle parked next to the sidewalk. A big, black, longgg hummer/limo with two big men standing by the front door. And then she says..

“Look!”

I turn to look
“Oh.. damn those assholes”
*jealous of whoever might be in there*

*Stops walking*

“Why did you stop? Let’s go..”

“Dude this thing is for US!!!!!!!!!”

GOD I felt so DUMB!!

Freaking EMMA (Aussie Emma)..
Had ordered us two ginormous limos (there was a similar one in white one ahead) to ferry us to Covent Garden!!

PB050462

PB050465

Pics are blurry cos we were over excited -_-

PB050471

That’s Carrie at the back

What better thing to do in the limo than drink more champagne
I remember knocking the bottle on my teeth by accident in my excitement
(Emma and I drank from the bottle as the glasses ran out.. ok..)

Our next stop was Jewel Bar

PB050479 PB050496

There was a fire-eater person thingy outside the venue
And wow you can really feel the heat every time the blows out a puff of fire

PB050500PB050501 PB050524 PB050515 PB050520PB050525 PB050530

There were heaps of snacks and bites
The best thing were these edamame beans with rock salt and chilli powder on them
I had tons *shameless*

And then I nearly finished a whole plate of fried calamari

PB050534

Free cocktails and champagne, too!

PB050514

Emma and I had the most fab time
We danced till our legs ached

When no one wanted to dance with us we went downstairs where LOTS of people were dancing
And we did some crazy moves while laughing at each other

That night, I went home happy

THANKS AUSSIE, BEST NIGHT EVAH

Found a website/company that’s giving away a free photobook (get your photos printed into a book) to the first 80,000 to sign up. If you’re interested, click here to sign up!
Not sure if it’s UK-only or not..

I got 100 photos printed recently (from Pixum)
I spent hours choosing – seriously, how do you pick 100 when you take 10,000 a year – and then editing/cropping each photo
So you can imagine my glee when the package arrived yesteday
I had selected photos mainly from this year, especially those from over the summer
And it made me smile to see and remember all the happy memories

To be able to HOLD these reminders in my hands
It makes you appreciate them more
